CHICAGO, ILLINOIS (June 19, 2006) - Visitors to "NPE 2006: The International Plastics Showcase" will see how the newest products from Johns Manville's Global Reinforcements organization are bringing to life its motto of "Our Customers, Our People, Our Commitment…Stronger Every Day."
Johns Manville (JM) will be located in booth 5980 during the event, which runs June 19-23 at Chicago's McCormick Place.
During the last year, JM's Global Reinforcements organization - part of the company's Engineered Products Group - has introduced several offerings with industry-leading capabilities to best meet customers' performance needs.
"Johns Manville Global Reinforcements is an exciting place to be," said John Sage, business manager, Reinforcements-North America. "We continue to invest in our people and production capabilities in order to deliver new products and expanded capacity to our customers.
"We are excited to be the only fiber glass supplier exhibiting at this year's NPE show. This is a strong indicator of our commitment to the industry and our plans for future growth."
"JM launches a steady stream of innovative new products to help our customers win by growing their business and driving productivity. This innovative partnership approach is a key element in our strategy and the NPE provides a perfect venue to share the most recent developments", said Mike Huff, vice president and general manager, Global Reinforcements, Engineered Products Group.
ThermoFlow® chopped strand exhibits world-class flow characteristics and enhances customer productivity through its reduced fines content. The latest addition to this line, ThermoFlow® EC 10 768 4mm, is a 10-micron chopped strand for high-temperature resins such as Polyphenylsulfid (PPS), Polysulfone (PSO), and Polyetheretherketone (PEEK). This JM fiber provides a 10-percent improvement in retained properties compared to competitive fibers after hydrolysis testing, which makes it an excellent choice for demanding automotive under-hood applications. It will be used in the thermoplastics industry for automotive, electrical and electronics applications.
StarRov® LFTplus is a family of premium direct rovings for Long Fiber Thermoplastic technologies (LFT pellets and D-LFT). It has superior resin-impregnation characteristics and best-in-class mechanical performance, which make it very useful for structural automotive parts and industrial applications. This portfolio of rovings is optimized for Polypropylene (PP) as well as for engineering thermoplastics, such as Polyamine (PA), Polybuthylentherephthalate (PBT), Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU), Polycarbonate (PC), styrenics and others.
StarStran® LCF (Long Chopped Fibers), developed to meet the most demanding needs of the D-LFT industry, is a new patent-pending fiber reinforcement that can easily be dispersed and wet-out in low-shear environments. StarStran® LCF fibers will enable the thermoplastics industry to produce improved parts that obtain high-cost efficiency and feature high-performance mechanical properties and superior surface qualities. It is especially well-suited for automotive, construction and civil engineering applications.
StarStran® LCF 914 was developed to be compatible with Polypropylene and most engineered thermoplastic polymers. It is available in fiber lengths from 12-38 mm and can be used in injection molding, compression molding and extrusion.
