Johns Manville Introduces a Range of New Products at Techtextil Fair

Bad Homburg/Frankfurt (June 12, 2007) --- Johns Manville (JM), a leading manufacturer of premium-quality building and specialty products, is introducing six new products for filtration and building applications at the Techtextil Fair in Frankfurt, Germany from June 12-14, 2007.

Within its filtration product line, JM is introducing to the market three new products: CombiFil® Premium, SpunFil™ EasyPleat and Micro-Strand® XP.

CombiFil® Premium for air filtration is an innovative multi-layer composite that is setting new standards for air filtration performance. The new product combines the advantages of both polyester and micro glass and provides a filtration product that has consistent mechanical filtration efficiency up to HEPA, low-pressure drop with dust-holding capacity and requires no additional reinforcements. As a result, it is easy to process and provides an extremely long filter life with low energy usage. It allows filter producers to manufacture pleated filters utilizing new dimensions of high dust-holding capacity combined with high stiffness and low pressure drop.

SpunFil™ EasyPleat is a calendered polyester spunbond with made with JM's new BC-technology. It has permeability and features a very high stiffness even at low-area weights. The product enables high pleating machine speeds while continuing to achieve sharp and precise pleats.

Micro-Strand® XP is a new class of microfiber specifically designed to pass the European Union's rigorous biosolubility criteria. Thus, Micro-Strand® XP fiber glass is currently considered safe to manufacture and handle using only standard safeguards. It's used for the production of high performance special filtration papers applied in HEPA, ULPA and ASHRAE filters.

Additionally, JM is introducing three new products for building applications market: DuraSpun® XTR, a glass thread reinforced spunbond composite providing best-in-class dimensional stability to bituminous waterproofing membranes; Illuma® White, a pre-coated glass fiber nonwoven for high-quality ceiling tiles; and the glass fiber nonwoven DHY Forte, an innovative product for impact sound attenuation.

DuraSpun® XTR, a new polyester spunbond with glass thread reinforcement that enhances best-in-class dimensional stability of the bituminous waterproofing membranes. The attributes of the product enable JM customers to maximize production speed while benefiting from a product with no roofing membrane shrinkage and superior and consistent quality.

Illuma® White is a pre-coated glass fiber nonwoven for the frontside of high-quality ceiling tiles that comes with an improved grade of whiteness, good paintability and a stunning surface uniformity. It can be used as a finished facing product but also serves as a unique base product for further color coatings. Illuma® White offers value added properties including painting reduced costs during processing.

The yellow-colored glass fiber nonwoven DHY Forte is a robust glass nonwoven with a unique voluminous construct to support the toughest sound absorption requirements. The product enables excellent sound impact sound insulation in floor constructions.
