Johns Manville Introduces New Products at 2009 Techtextil Show in Frankfurt

Bobingen/Wertheim (May 4, 2009) --- Johns Manville (JM), a leading manufacturer of premium-quality building and specialty products, will present its new nonwoven products for filtration and building applications at the 2009 Techtextil show in Frankfurt, June 16-18 (hall 3.1, booth E 79).

With a new “heavyweight“ variation of its SpunFil® product, JM has extended its polyester spunbond range for filtration. The 260 g/m² filter media for industrial air filtration increases the stiffness, stability and filter efficiency significantly.

The filtration portfolio has also been enlarged with energy-efficient media for air pollution control and gas turbines.

With StabilStrand®, JM introduces to the market a brand new innovative nonwoven as a surface layer as well as underlayer for engineered wood materials. StabilStrand® represents a new product family composed of innovative glass fiber nonwovens and completely unique binder systems, e.g. b-stage melamine. Using heat and pressure during the manufacturing process, the binder systems cure it resulting in an engineered wood composite. StabilStrand® is applicable for all common wood fiber materials (such as particle boards, MDF, HDF, OSB or plywood).

StabilStrand® nonwovens reinforce the flexural strength significantly, and also increase the impact strength and the fire retardancy. StabilStrand® has already been qualified for different press processes that include conti, short cycle, and multi opening presses.

Typical applications for StabilStrand® products are in decorative areas like laminate flooring, furniture panels, building products and vehicle construction.

With the introduction of this innovations and the manifold nonwoven product portfolio, JM is even better prepared to fulfil the market needs of the future.
