CombiMat® - The Versatile Inlay for Today's New Generation of
Johns Manville Roofing Substrates, Combining the Advantages of Polyester
and Glass Fiber Mat in One Single Product:
Bad Homburg (April 17, 2002) --- The market demand for what are
commonly called combi-inlays, used in the manufacturing of bitumen
roofing substrates, is continuously increasing. Johns Manville,
one of the leading manufacturers of high-quality products for the
building materials industry has acted on this demand with our CombiMat®
inlay. Our glass fiber and polyester scientists and engineers, using
state-of-the-art technology, successfully joined forces to develop
an inlay which uniquely combines the advantages of polyester and
glass fiber mat in a worldwide first.
Highly tear resistant and flexible polyester mat is combined with
dimensionally stable, specially prepared glass fiber mat through
a unique needling technique that yields a form-locked compound with
the positive properties of glass fiber mat, including an improved
burn behavior.
CombiMat® can be processed into polymer bitumen roofing by any
bitumen roofing manufacturer using the standard manufacturing method
and standard bitumen types. CombiMat® is also suited for other areas
of application like sound protection or flooring.
Johns Manville's product range includes glass fiber mat, glass
fiber fabric, and polyester inlays that are processed in manufacturing
roofing substrates of different qualities worldwide. Johns Manville
is the only single-source supplier of high-quality inlays of this
