Johns Manville Europe Glass Fiber Reinforced Plastics Sector Represented at the K 2001 in Düsseldorf :

For the first time, Johns Manville Europe is showing its line of glass fiber reinforced plastics products under one corporate identity at the K 2001 in Duesseldorf (hall 6, booth E67). Following the recent acquisition of Skloplast in Trnava, Slovakia, the importance of this business line in Johns Manville's portfolio has increased.

Johns Manville Skloplast is one of the leading manufacturers of rovings and chopped strands for plastic reinforcement applications for SMC and BMC technology as well as for fiber reinforced thermal plastics in Europe. In addition, there is a continuously increasing demand for roving products for use in the innovative LTF technology for long-fiber reinforced thermal plastics.

Johns Manville Skloplast is represented in the rapidly growing reinforced thermoplastics sector by new products for automobile interiors or under the bonnet, to name just two applications. In these applications, glass fibers are used as reinforcements for polyolefines, like polypropylene, and also for polyamides and thermoplastical polyester, commonly called engineered plastics.

Other JM product innovations also introduced at K 2001 include CombiTex, a hybrid system consisting of a homogenous blend of glass and polypropylene fibers. CombiTex is used for various applications in plastic reinforcements.

CombiMat®, yet another new Johns Manville development, is a new inlay combining the advantages of polyester spunbonds and glass fiber nonwovens in one single product.

Johns Manville, a Berkshire Hathaway company, is a leading manufacturer and marketer of premium-quality building and specialty products. In business since 1858, the Denver-based company has sales in excess of $2 billion and holds leadership positions in all of the key markets that it serves. Johns Manville employs approximately 10,000 people and operates 55 manufacturing facilities in North America, Europe and China. Additional information can be found at www.jm.com.
