CombiTex ®: Johns Manville - Partner of
the plastic reinforcements industry. Hybrid yarns in a homogeneous
blend long-fiber reinforced thermoplastics.
CombiTex ®, Johns Manville's latest product
development, effectively facilitates the economic manufacture
of lightweight plastic moulds with improved tensiles. CombiTex ®
is produced and processed solvent-free and therefore friendly
to the environment. CombiTex ® is available as sliver 1000 tex
for weft and as yarn 1000 tex Z 60 for warp in a blend of
60% glass and 40% polypropylene, respectively. Further product
variations available on request.
The yarn, a homogeneous blend of glass
and polyester fibers, offers excellent processing properties
in the manufacture of fabrics, scrims and knitted fabrics.
Yarn volume, superior elongation and the resulting slip resistance
accommodate excellent draping abilities for 3-D components
and a good surface coverage at low area weights. the homogeneous
fiber distribution provides excellent consolidation properties
at uniform tensiles, high impact strengths and high tenacity
in the finished product.
CombiTex ® is ideally suited as a plastic
reinforcement for containers, sports and electrical equipment,
and for the production of fatigue resistant automotive and
heavy duty vehicle moulds. CombiTex ® is also available as Prepreg
(-board) for subsequent processing into its final 3-D shape.
